Visitors can hear such stories about this uniquely Midwestern area at |

the McLean County Museum of History. |

Being showcased now through 2007 is "Journey Through the |
| |
Great Depression". This exhibit takes visitors on a "road trip" through |
| |
the 1930s. Other special exhibits include: |

Funks Prairie Home / Gem and Mineral Museum |

The restored 1864 residence of Illinois State Senator, co-founder, |
| |
and director of Chicago's Union Stockyards, Lafayette Funk, includes |
| |
historic memorabilia and antiques of the Funk Family. Lafayette Funk |
| |
was also known as the cattle-king of Illinois. While visiting the home, |
| |
you can hear an original working Victorola or see the first-ever electric |
| |
kitchen island. Other luxuries include hot and cold running water, a |
| |
formal garden with water fountain, colored lights, and a lighted tennis |
| |
court on the lawn. |

The Gem and Mineral Museum features the Hall of Gems & Minerals |
| |
with its dazzling display of many rare and beautiful stones. The |
| |
Museum also contains an Indian artifact room with early examples of |
| |
Native American culture. |

Unique Theaters |

Downtown Bloomington's Castle Theater, originally built in 1916, |
| |
gives new meaning to the idea of "dinner and a movie". Classic |
| |
architecture is combined with plush, comfortable couches, and a menu |

including gourmet pizzas, sandwiches, desserts, as well as an |
| |
assortment of fine beers and wine. |

The historic Normal Theatre has been completely restored to its |
| |
original condition when it opened in 1937. It was the first theatre in |
| |
Bloomington specifically designed for sound films. Today, it shows |
| |
classic movies, art films, and also hosts live theatre and music. |
